His research focuses on topics within Artificial Intelligence and Databases, particularly in the areas of data integration and exchange, inconsistency tolerant reasoning, knowledge representation and reasoning under uncertainty, probabilistic reasoning, computational logic and argumentation. He has published more than 60 scientific papers in international conferences (e.g. IJCAI, AAAI, KR, ECAI), proceedings and journals (e.g. AIJ, TODS, JAIR, TOCL, IJAR, JCSS) on the following topics:

• Uncertainty in databases and knowledge bases, probabilistic databases, and spatio-temporal data knowledge bases;
 
• Inconsistency management and data integration, query answering under different forms of inconsistency and uncertainty, and inconsistency measurement in databases and knowledge bases;
 
• Uncertainty and dynamics in formal argumentation, probabilistic and incomplete argumentation frameworks, incremental computation for structured and abstract argumentation, preferences and constraints in argumentation.
